Saving Lives at Sea is a British documentary series about the brave women and men of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). They are a strong crew of unpaid volunteers who work hard to save people from the sea’s harsh conditions while risking their own lives. Cameras follow these heroes around to record some of the most amazing rescues through their eyes and the eyes of the people they have saved.
The first episode of the seventh season of Saving Lives at Sea, called “Race Against Now,” aired on Thursday, August 25, 2022. Episode 4, called “Pressure,” was the last one to air. It aired on September 15, and the directors first took us to Bundoran on Ireland’s northwestern coast, where a rip current had swept a teenage girl out to sea and the RNLI crew rushed to save her.
Then, in Portishead, north of Somerset, we saw a man who had fallen 30 feet from a cliff and had serious injuries, especially to his chest, and was rushed to the hospital right away. Also, when a dog went missing in Porthcawl, which is across the Bristol Channel, the RNLI crew went on a hunt for snipe. Finally, the crew set up a search party in Fraserburgh, a small fishing town on the northeastern coast of Scotland, to find local fishermen who hadn’t returned to the harbour.
