Lakers Begin "Players-Only" Mini-Camp Ahead Of Training Camp

LeBron James has hosted a players-only mini-camp every year since joining the Los Angeles Lakers, and it usually takes place in the last days of the summer, just before the start of the team's formal training camp.

James has used it as a method to exercise leadership and make new players feel welcomed as everyone gets ready for a new season.

The Lakers have a lot of new players on their roster, as was the case last year, so developing camaraderie and coherence will be crucial to their success.

In order to do this, the squad has begun their James-led mini-camp in San Diego.

"The Lakers’ players-led minicamp tipped off in San Diego this morning. Every player on the roster is present, sources told ESPN. Training camp opens up officially on Monday with Media Day in El Segundo." Dave McMenamin tweeted.

"An update: New PG Dennis Schroder is organizing his family’s move back to Los Angeles and was unable to attend Day 1, according to a source." he added.

Naturally, Schroder participated for Los Angeles in the 2020–21 season.

James made it plain that he is happy to have the German native back as a teammate, despite the fact that they didn't part ways on the greatest of terms last summer.
